About Me

I am an artist, registered nurse, wife and mom.  Those titles change in priority from moment to moment! My primary art style or medium is mixed media, although I am starting to dabble more in watercolor and I just bought some oil paints, so who knows what you will see me create next.  I love to do assemblage or altered art.   I sew and I'm teaching myself how to knit.  Although don't look for any knitted bits on the web site just yet. 

My art is inspired by my weird and wonderful imagination, by simple beauty in nature, by the old vintage bits and pieces that I collect and by my beautiful daughter who occasionally consents to model for me. I love the freedom that mixed media art allows me. In my painitngs, I create my vision using many layers of paper, including vintage sheet music, book pages and other ephemera.  Over this, I layer acrylic, watercolor paints, pastels, charcoal, anything I cna get my hands on. I may incorporate vintage lace or fabric, beads and glitter. It's messy and a whole lot of fun. 

I am also inspired by an amazing group of artists that I have met in the virtual world of on line art classes. If you follow my studio on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, ( links at the bottom of the  page), I will be able to introduce you to some incredibly gifted artists of all kinds. 

Art is the thing that grounds me, that makes my heart sing, that fills my spirit when I start to sag. I hope my art brings a smile to your face or speaks to something in your heart.
